This position is for the 2024-2025 school year.

 

Certification:

Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources: Grades 6-12

Agriculture Science and Technology: Grades 6-12

Any Vocational Agriculture Certificate

 

Primary Duties:

The Agriculture Science teacher will be responsible for providing classroom instruction for agriculture courses using the district and/or purchased Agriculture curriculum. Curriculum training will be provided as needed.

 

Qualifications:

The applicant will be a certified teacher willing to be a valuable part of the agriculture team and the Career and Technical Education department at C. E. King High School. The agriculture teacher will demonstrate a commitment to students by encouraging innovative and creative thinking via problem-based learning with real-world applications.

 

Essential Job Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Empower students to build knowledge and skills in agriculture and in-demand, transportable skills, such as problem-solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, and collaboration.

 

Complete professional development required to teach selected courses.

Prepare course objectives and outlines for the course of study following curriculum guidelines and requirements

Assign lessons, correct assignments, and provide students with positive feedback and constructive criticism on assignments.

Administer tests to evaluate students’ progress, record results, and issue reports or conduct meetings to inform parents of progress.

Establish procedures and enforce rules for behavior and maintaining order in the classroom and lab.

Inventory, maintain, and safely secure course equipment, technology, and supplies. classroom.

Keep attendance records.

Recognize and refer students encountering medical, physical, and/or psychological problems to district specialists as required.

Establish and maintain appropriate working relationships by actively communicating with parents

Support Career and Technical Education student organizations and initiatives.

FFA Advisor Role - LDEs, CDEs, Stock Shows, State Convention, Travel Planning

Sheep and goat experience preferred

Applied Agricultural Engineering (Ag Mechanics) experience or willingness to learn preferred

The assignment will include (but not limited to) Principals of Agriculture Science, Wildlife and Horticulture or Greenhouse Production courses

 

Secondary Job Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, mentor programs, and teacher training workshops.

Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.

Ensure continuous upkeep of a visually pleasing classroom environment and Agriculture

Center facility while also responsibly managing and maintaining district equipment.

Perform additional tasks and assume such other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES which may be representative but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

 

Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students.

Math Ability: Basic math skills required.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer and Equipment Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and experience with Word Processing software and Spreadsheet software. Additionally, individuals will utilize standard office equipment including photocopiers and telephone systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

May be regularly exposed to varying inclement outdoor weather conditions while on recess duty or bus duty. This individual may be exposed to potentially hazardous bodily fluids.

 

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Works 217 days + Agriculture Stipend of $5000.
