Primary Purpose:    

Provide guidance to teachers in appropriate program options, methods of instruction, and student intervention in order to improve teaching skills and enhance the learning of all students.

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification: 

  • Valid certificate from accredited college or university
  • Master’s degree in: C&I, Content Area, or School Administration

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of core content areas and TEKS – Knowledge Statement, Student Expectations, and Process Standards
  • Ability to guide and direct peers in researched-based teaching methodologies
  • Knowledge of high impact instructional practices
  • Ability to lead professional development sessions
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain organization of multiple schedules

 

Experience:

  • At least three 5 years experience as an effective classroom teacher
  • Multi-grade level experience preferred, but not required
  • Leadership roles in educational settings preferred, but not required

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Plan and assist staff to implement effective lessons in the assigned core subject area(s) and research-based practices in classrooms that will improve the performance and success of all students.
  • Supports teachers by helping with the “what” of teaching and ensures the implementation of the district adopted curriculum.
  • Serve as a peer coach with classroom teachers as they move from teacher directed instruction to more child centered learning that incorporate the elements of active learning.
  • Provide staff with ongoing coaching, modeling, and professional development to: Plan and implement effective differentiated lessons and appropriate learning activities; create formative/summative assessments to measure student mastery of TEKS, and use monitoring tools to track student progress.
  • Assist staff with the implementation of the state TEKS and district curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Facilitate the deconstruction of TEKS to align with lesson learning experiences and assessments.
  • Stay current on best practices in order to strengthen knowledge and skills and models continuous learning.
  • Provide staff with ongoing coaching, modeling, and professional development to developmentally appropriate practices and child-centered classrooms.
  • Utilize appropriate software to manipulate and disaggregate data and provide campus personnel with appropriate analysis.
  • Support teachers to plan appropriate intervention lessons and work with students to provide acceleration/intervention, as needed.
  • Be responsive to campus needs in scientifically research-based practices and methodologies.
  • Maintain positive and effective relationships with central office staff, principals, teachers, and parents
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy
  • Provides direct instruction to identified students in individual, and/or small and whole group settings

Stipends: 

 

$5,000 Specialist

$1,500 Degree Incentive
