Future Position for the 2017-2018 School Year:

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

  • Direct and manage the instructional program, supervise operations and personnel at campus level
  • Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service
  • Oversee compliance with district policies, success of instructional programs, and operation of all campus activities

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in educational administration
  • Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
  • Certified Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS) appraiser

  • Strong organizational, motivational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Hands-on transformational style of leadership
  • Flexibility, patience, and perseverance
  • Ability to develop business/community partnerships and public relations
  • Ability to take risks, multitask, problem solve, negotiate with a variety of entities

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Five years experience as a classroom teacher
  • Three years experience in instructional leadership roles (elementary assistant principal experience is required; previous prinicpal experience preferred)
  • School start-up, turnaround, or redesign experience is preferred
  • Requires experience recruiting and hiring teachers who meet the needs of an at-risk population

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor instructional and managerial processes to ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes and use findings to take corrective actions
  • Regularly consult the campus-level committee about planning, operation, supervision and evaluation of program
  • Lead and monitor curriculum and instructional practices
  • Monitor lesson planning and delivery to ensure the alignment of curriculum, instruction and assessment
  • Develop, maintain, and use information systems, records and student assessment program to show progress on performance as well as college readiness and success in advanced courses
  • Provide, evaluate, and continuously improve staff and faculty professional development
  • Develop a fair and consistent student discipline management system
  • Serve as the instructional leaders for the building by setting clear goals; managing the delivery of curriculum; allocating resources to instruction; ensuring that teachers get the training, support and direction they need to deliver quality instruction to every student; coaching and evaluating teachers and related activities
  • Visit classroom regularly; observe and gather data to make adjustments as necessary and appropriate to meet district and school goals and objectives relating to curriculum, best teaching practices, cultural competency and related factors
  • Develop action plans for the school and establish a professional development action plan that is aligned to school and district goals; develop interim plans taking into consideration the activities that best address the learning needs to students to meet goals
  • Plan and manage a fiscally responsible budget to include monitoring and supporting local, state, and federal rules, policies and procedures and maintains accurate and up-to-date records and documentation that support student achievement; ensure the strategic allocation and equitable use of financial and human capital resources to meet instructional goals and support staff needs; evaluate the success of funding and program decisions
  • Complies with budgeting and purchasing guidelines and demonstrates responsible fiscal control over the school budget and activity funds
  • Develop a management system that encourages positive student behavior, self-esteem, and a supportive climate to facilitate maximum student achievement
  • Lead efforts to design or provide opportunities for family and community involvement at the school; create a school-wide culture that makes school feel accessible to families and the communities
