This position is available for the 2024-2025 school year

C.E. King High School 9th Grade Campus, the feeder campus to our main 6A high school in fast-growth Sheldon ISD in northeast Houston, is looking for a full-time Theatre Director to complement our existing staff of 2 full-time teacher/director at the main campus and 1 full-time teacher/director at each of our two feeder middle school campuses (King and Null Middle Schools). This position will focus on Theatre Arts (acting) and Technical Theatre classes for students on the 9th Grade Campus, will direct productions for all 9th Grade Theatre Students from both HS campuses, and may assist as needed with all major KHS productions. All areas of expertise will be considered, but the ability to contribute to the team in all areas of theatre - acting/directing/writing/speech and technical areas such as sound, choreography, lighting, and set/prop design and construction - would be valuable. C.E. King HS and its in-house Performing Arts Center are beautiful and still relatively new, including a full auditorium, control booth, black box, scene shop, costume/makeup facilities, and a theatre classroom, and the district begins construction on a new, adjacent 9th and 10th Grade Campus soon that will also include new theatre facilities (for which this position will be the primary teacher at that time). Theatre in Sheldon ISD is award-winning and well-supported: This year's KHS musical production of Chicago earned 26 Tommy Tune Award Nominations, KHS UIL One Act Plays regularly advance, and the past two winners of the Middle School One Act Play Contest are our feeder schools (Null MS this year, and King MS last year). Teacher salaries, stipends, and budgets are competitive.
