Primary Purpose:

Serve as a mentor to drivers and aides. Provide job training to new employees. Substitute on routes as needed.

 

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED

Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B or above) with passenger (p) and school bus (s) endorsements.

Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) School Bus Driver Certification (or ability to obtain)

Acceptable driving record as defined by TxDPS.

CPR, CPI and AED certification (or ability to obtain)

Texas Association of Pupil Transportation (TAPT) Trainer certification (or ability to obtain) including successful completion of the TEEX Train the Trainer course.

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screens

Ability to pass annual TxDPS school bus driver’s physical examination

Ability to maintain confidentiality with respect to student and personnel information

 

Experience:

Prior experience as a driver.
